Thanksgiving

Bless our Agriculture

for it’s part of who we are.

and we should be aware

of how our food is farmed.

The workers in our fields

alone might understand

what we’re doing to our land

and why to readjust our plans.

For on the Great Plains

a giant aquifer is drained

to produce abundant grain

for the billions it sustains.

And as time goes by

this well is running dry,

but composting might buy

our society some time.

It also might be best

to use chemicals less

they’re carcinogenic,

so consider organic.

Support your local farms,

they’re all so full of charm

and they’re only paid to grow

lots and lots of corn.

So please, remember,

you are what you eat,

and you don’t have to be

sugar that’s cheap.

Life thrives on variety,

it’s good for our immunity,

promote biodiversity

and grow a better community.
