Altruism on Earth Day

Your hurrays this Earth Day

should be met with a pledge

to understand our existence

depends on a web

of multiple organisms

keeping us steady.

We need them to live,

so are you ready

to do what you can

for arable land?

Will you examine your waste

and try to reduce?

Will you use what’s reusable

so you don’t pollute?

Will you familiarize yourself

with local species

and act in a manor where

they won’t go extinct?

I believe humanity

is capable of this,

and if we are not

we might cease to exist.

So this Earth Day be

the hero humanity needs,

Sweep up that litter,

and go plant those seeds.
